Coronation 'Comic Football Match'
Geoff Webb

As part of the Coronation celebrations a comic football match was arranged to be played in the Silkmill Meadow.

Players and referee are seen leaving the Club Room at East Common and passing The Cricketers Public House on their way to the ground.

The referee is Bert Halsey on his tricycle, being helped along by Bert ‘Fiery’ Seabrooke.  On the far right is Flo Bird with Jack ‘Abe’ Millington.  On the left is Fred Halsey (in raincoat), followed by small Mr. Herring of East Common.
