A Christmas get-together at Redbourn in 1955 shows Minnie and Lewis Hawkins (left) with Doris (Sansom) and her husband Harry Valentine ‘Val’ Hawkins.  Doris Sansom was the daughter of Tom Sansom the watercress grower at Redbourn, and the Hawkins’ family home was at Redbournbury Mill.

  • Just found this site! My ancestors James and Eliza Hawkins lived at “Bottom of Common” in the early 1800’s. Their ten children were born in Redbourn including my Gt Gt Grandfather Amos Hawkins in 1851. I need to investigate further to see if I am related to anyone in the photos. I really need to makea trip to Redbourn to see if the Hawkins’ family are remembered anywhere. I am keen to see the Church and parich records. Great site! Odette
