The Henry family came to Redbourn as evacuees from the London blitz in World War 2, and, like several others, stayed with us.
Son Ron played football for Redbourn Football Club before moving on to a distinguished career with Totttenham Hotspur Football Club, where he became captain, and won an England cap.
We see the family here in their Hemel Hempsted Road home. They are viewing Ron’s double winning medals in 1961.
Left to right: Vic (Ron’s twin brother), Edna (Peacock) holding Steve (Ron’s wife and son), Ted (father), Ron, Maud (mother) and Lizzie Gibbs (grandmother).
Ron’s achievements are a great honour to him – and to Redbourn.
