The Lee family
Geoff Webb

Travellers today tend to attract adverse publicity, but when the Lee family arrived in Redbourn to set up an encampment in Chequers Lane in 1953, they proved that not all travellers warranted such treatmant.  Over the years the Lees have become a welcome addition to our community, conducting themselves in a manner to be proud of, and condusive to village life.

Parents Charlie and Alice Lee are photographed c.1970.
Their son John and his wife Doris are seen with their grandson Craig Lee in 1978.

  • Hi Everyone
Am attempting to do a family tree on the Lee side of my family. My mother is Wytham Susannah Lee but everyone in Redbourn knew her as Anna. Her father is Bill Lee and her mother is Anna Lee and they lived in Baldock. My mum came to Australia in 1965 and I have heard much about her spending time with her Aunt Ruby and her grandma and grandad Lee and has fond memories of Doris and John. If anyone can give me some more information I would really appreciate it.
    Regards
    Rebecca Lee

  • Hi Wayne

Alice and Charlie were my great gran and grandad

    and Horrace my great uncle

I can’t seem to place you or your mother on our family tree, however there are gaps.

I’m happy to tell you what I know to build a bigger picture
