The Ratcliffe family left London to avoid the Blitz and beginning of World War 2, and came to Redbourn and lived at Fish Street.

Charlie Snr. was a popular barber with the youngsters, and is seen cutting his son Dougie’s hair, and is watched by Charlie Jnr.

On the left at the rear is Mrs. Jack Smith (a neighbour), and she is with Mrs. Ratcliffe.
