One of the saddest happenings in Redbourn’s history was the murder of Mrs. Sarah Seabrooke at her North Common cottage.  The funeral is seen leaving her son Bert’s home at East Common, and, led by undertaker ‘Friday’ Thorogood, proceeding down ‘The Horsepath’ to St. Mary’s Church.  Photos c.1920
