The top of Redbourn High Street at the junction with Harpenden Lane, as it looked in the early 1920’s.  The shop on the right was also the home of the Whittaker family, Miss Daines and later the Fisher family, parents of John.  The shop on the left hand corner was also the home of the Beesley family, who experienced a frightening accident caused by a lorry crashing into the premises.
