It was a proud day for Wayne Henry, his family and Redbourn when he played in the British Open Championship at Royal Troon in 1989. He received a few friendly encouraging words from master golfer Seve Ballesteros before play started.

Very sorry for my error Wayne and Geoff. Not sure what I was thinking about 10 years ago!
Thankyou, Wayne, and I apologise for my errors, but I have to rely in other people giving me the information. Geoff
correction to the above. I did play in the 1989 open championship as a pro and yes it was Royal Troon.
Thankyou Alan and Ant for the corrections. I have updated the site. Geoff Webb
Its called st . Andrews and if Wayne had been playing at Troon in 1975 he would of been approx 5 years old
Correction to the above . Wayne Henry is pictured here Andrews in 1984.
I played golf, less well, than Wayne at Redbourne in the early 80s. He never played in the Open but reached final qualifying. The photo here is from 1984 at st Andrews
