  • My mum was in the Land Army 1941 to 1945 at Lodge Farm, Sandon. We used to comedown every year for a holiday and stay with Phil and Julie Saunderson of Sayfield Cottages. I have so many happy memories of Sandon.

  • I am related to the Rayner family at Hyde Hall in the 1700s and 1800s. I have read about the early history of the estate. Does anyone have a picture of the hall please? Or does the name Hyde Hall refer only to the farm?

  • My grandmother Julia (B 1875) was one of the “Skipp” families present in and around Sandon.
My it interest is in building a picture of Sandon, and its outside conections with Hertfordshire and say London.
I would be interested anyone researching such links and village history, relating to this period.

  • The shop is on Roe Green, now a private house called Redfearns after its shopkeeper owner Redfearn Walker. It shut as a shop around 1990.

The pub at Mill End is The Two Brewers. There is also The Hoops. Both now private houses.

I don’t know the location of the other pub ‘The Duke of Marlborough??’ Does anyone?
