  • My memories of The Peahen are obviously far more recent . In 1962 Peahen Coaches operated out of the yard there . Run by the Deamer family I owe them much . At 16 I was homeless . They took me in and rescued me . As a result I spent many hours in the yard office and in the Public bar . Yes at 16 . Dougie ran the Public bar back then and I spent many happy hours in there playing dominoes and cribbage . Stout and cider was the drink of the day in the 60’s . These were hard times for me made much easier by the Deamers and the folk in the Peahen public bar.

  • I tried to add a photo but couldn’t. There is a photograph of the pub, it was in 1858, on a well known auction site.
