'Walk a Day in My Shoes' Photgraphy Exhibition

Herts Young Homeless is a unique charity in Hertfordshire providing services to support vulnerable people. Their free services empower young people to be able to deal with the difficult situations in their lives, give them the ability and confidence to ‘do it themselves’ and ultimately find stability.

Live Life is a project run by Herts Young Homeless, aimed at those 16 to 24 years old, who have faced homelessness, by either sofa surfing or staying at temporary accommodation. Live Life members are given the opportunity to meet people with similar experiences, have their say on homelessness and gain valuable social and work place skills.

Coinciding with the Squatlife exhibition, in the St Albans Museum + Gallery, the photographs were cable tied to the railings outside the museum and across other prominent City Centre locations. After the exhibition closed the images were moved to the entrance of Verulamium Park in St Albans, from Oct – end of Nov.

Through the ‘Walk a Day in My Shoes’ exhibition, heritage that was previously hidden became more accessible and known to the public. The photography exhibition was created by HYH, assisted by professional photographer Pete Stevens, who supported them in capturing images which reflected their daily lives, hopes and dreams.
