The Wide Game

One of the best things about Brownie holiday is the wide game.  This involves Brownies working in their sixes to complete a series of tasks with rewards that lead to an ultimate treat.

The leaders

Our theme was Roald Dahl and the leaders all dressed up as characters from the books.  We had the BFG and Sophie, Pelly, Ladybird, Esio Trot, George, Giant Chicken and of course Willy Wonka.

The tasks

The tasks were

  • Finding dreams for the BFG
  • Matilda’s test
  • Making Georges marvellous medicine
  • Wonka’s chocolate tasting
  • Making a tower taller than a giraffe
  • Decoding messages for Esio Trot
  • Write a poem in the style of Roald Dahl

For each task completed the Brownies were given a clue to the location of a Golden Ticket which read “In your widest dreams you cannot imagine the marvellous SURPRISES that await YOU”.  The Brownies had to present their tickets at the dining room door at 5pm to find out what it was.  We all had a fantastic party with games and chocolate fountains.

  • A big Thank you to all the people involved Jemma and Ellen came home with lots of stories to tell and lots of things to show us and went to sleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow. They had a brilliant time!
