Scripts and Scrolls
6 - Ready For Exhibition
By Eva Cantin
In a few days we hand in our work for the exhibition. I have amazed myself by making 3 pieces and getting them completed on time.
I have already posted about Scripts and Scrolls 1 & 2 here and on my own blog. The third piece, Keeping a Tally, is more mixed media and less stitch based as well as being 3D …. a bit of a departure for me. As usual there is more about it here on my blog
Also I have kept a sketch book, of sorts, for the first time. It is mostly samples as I made notes separately, I don’t think my scribbles are ready for public viewing yet, I can barely decipher some of them. Thanks to the bookbinding course I was able to turn my loose folded sheets into a book which could be handled.
I decided on an open spine binding so that the pages could open out flat. I covered two stiff boards with some of my screen printed fabric for the covers. The stitching is not as good as I would like but I reckon it will do for a first try. I’d give it 7 out of 10!
