Bricklayers bill - [DE/Ml/83404]
Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

Receipts and bills can provide wonderful information on the building and re-development of housing. This bill in the collection of Hertfordshire Archives, in the estate records of the Martin Leake family, shows that the house had walls of lath and plaster, which were whitewashed, and a tile roof. It also gives a precise date for a particular feature – an oven.
