William ‘Bocky’ Fox sits on an Avenue seat on Redbourn Common with his twin grandchildren, John & Michael Allen (Note Almshouses and Mansdale in background). 1954
Was in the same junior school years as John and Michael Allen “the twins”. Both were of a friendly nature with an engaging personality. I developed a warm friendship with Mick in my teenage years and we would attend Luton home games and the occasional party. Meeting up with his friends in the Bull became a central part in his life. Our socialising lessened with the passage of time with Mick pursuing a highly successful career as a bricklayer while I followed a path into law. Whenever we met we always had a nice chat and what became increasingly evident was his commitment to Redbourn and its people. A thoroughly nice man and his passing during the Covid lockdown was of extreme personal sadness. A thoroughly decent and honourable man who was , without doubt, committed to Redbourn and it’s people.
