Jess Everall, Olympic Gamesmaker?

Closely watching football events

By Jess Everall

I have always been a big sports fan, so the thought of the Olympic Games coming to London is very exciting. Football is the event I am most looking forward to as I have always enjoyed playing, watching and more recently coaching the sport in my local area. I have also applied to be a Gamesmaker at the Olympic Games and I am currently a reserve.

I have been lucky enough to get tickets to go and watch some of the football at Wembley Stadium and will be able to watch Team GB which is very exciting. I am also going to the rehearsal of the Opening event at the Olympic Stadium on the 23rd July. I have been closely following the Olympic torch as it travels round the UK and will make sure I watch the torch pass through my local area.

I am reading…

When I was younger, one of my favourite books would have to be Dogger by Shirley Hughes, as I have a small dog toy of my own which I used to take everywhere with me and I have been known to lose it before. Another book I really enjoyed growing up was Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo, as I have always had an interest in the World Wars and found it fascinating what the soldiers went through and how Britain killed the most soldiers in the war through court marshal for desertion. More recently a book which I really enjoyed reading was Eight Lives Down by Chris Hunter, which is about him as a bomb disposal expert during the Iraq war and the stress these people are put under in order to save the lives of innocent people he had never met before.
