Reflections of an Olympic Gamesmaker
Sunday 12th August 2012
By Claire Weston
So 2 wks ago today I was going to the Olympic Park for my 1st Gamesmaker shift and now I’m on my way to my last!
I have been inside the Olympic bubble for just over 2 wks and I’ve blooming loved every minute of it and had the time of my life!!
I must have spoken to thousands and thousands of people from all over the world, repeated myself with the same answers to questions I have been asked millions of times before, met the most amazing fellow gamesmakers who have made my Olympic experience so much better with banter, hysterical laughter and of course going into every venue at OP and watching sport, walked a million miles, smiled to everyone who has come near me and even met my hero Roger Black (again)! I was even interviewed by the BBC about the importance of being a volunteer.
It has been an experience I will never ever forget! I have learnt so much about myself, others and life!
I feel so lucky, honoured and privileged to hve been gven these Olympic opportunities!
The Olympics have been everything I hoped it would be and a million times more. i can’t beleive that little old me has played a tiny part in it, I feel very proud!
Thank you to all who supported me and put up with my constant Olympic geeky updates over the past few months, years, decades, lifetime!!!
Dreams really do come true!
Emotional doesnt even begin to describe it.
What a fortnight …….
