This was taken in the drive of 5 Flamsteadbury Lane, where Roy and Elizabeth Woods lived. Cyril was Roy’s father and a great gardener. Most of the Woods’ garden was used for fruit and veg, tended by Cyril, who used to spend a lot of time in the garden at no5. He was a lovely old chap and by this time, a bit deaf. I was friends with David Woods, Cyril’s grandson.
