Saturday, April 16th, brought the vegan market back to Hitchin. The Vegan Market Co event first came to Hitchin on February 22nd 2020 and was founded by Lewis Beresford in 2015, while studying at the University of Cambridge.
On Linkedin, Beresford describes the event as a “platform that connects companies with ethical, sustainable and plant-centric/vegan products directly with the consumers that share their values. We operate Vegan Market events in locations across the UK and a online marketplace, both offering opportunities for businesses to connect with a highly targeted and engaged ethical, sustainable and health conscious consumer base.”
When the market isn’t in town Chia, located in Market Place SG5 1DR, serves a vegan and plant-based menu. The cafe opened in Spring 2019. The business is owned by Lucy Fisher, who was motivated after turning vegan in 2015 and wanting to share her diet “with as many people as possible to have as much of a positive impact as I could.”
The Vegan Market Co now comes to Hitchin twice a year; April 16th and September 3rd, on Riverside, SG5 1AB, next to our regular market, though travels around the UK, appearing in over forty other locations.
