In September 1950 Mrs Andrews started helping her mother-in-law look after the church. Now 60 years on she is still carrying out this duty.

It is not only on Fridays that she cares for it to such a high standard, it is also on Mondays and frequently other days as well, so that no-one EVER goes into the church and finds it anything but welcoming and spotless (and this is borne out in the comments in the Visitors Book).

Gifts of appreciation

In the year 2000, in appreciation of 50 devoted years, the Friends presented Mrs Andrews with an inscribed rose bowl and the PCC gave her an engraved silver picture frame and small clock.

Ten years later and she is still looking after the church – and everyone hopes she will continue to do so for many more years.
