Triptych in Homage to Sir John Wittewronge
About our Piece
The Triptych titles are:
- Weather Diaries
- Sir John Wittewronge – His Mow
- Crops
We responded to the beautifully written weather diaries and in reading them became excited by the visual quality of the language and his scientific consideration for agriculture, so long ago. Melons were a surprise crop and the variety of his produce amazing. We were soon in Rothamstead Manor where his spirit still overlooks the experiments of today.
Calico mounted on sacking – painted earthy colours in gouache – complimented by sewn threads – have been used as our oblique homage to an inspiring human being with whom we are thrilled to have become acquainted!!
