The Wittewronge Sampler

I have always enjoyed textiles. I was taught to knit, sew and embroider by my Mum. I cannot say why I enjoy it but I always have and I have passed these skills on to my daughters. I taught myself to crochet and learnt to make bobbin lace at evening class. I cannot sit down and do nothing.

My husband gave me the flyer advertising the project and it went from there. I have enjoyed meeting the other artists.

Most of the things I have down with textiles  has been from  following  patterns, this project has been more challenging as it has involved producing the design by combining elements from various patterns.

About my Piece

I have taken the idea of a sampler  from the data I received at the first meeting. I plotted on graph paper sourcing the pictures from a variety of cross stitch books. The sampler is worked in cross stitch and backstitch using 1 or 2 strands of embroidery threads on 28 count  evenweave.
