I lived in Baldock for many years and I remember that particular house having a rather sad history. A small child fell from a scaffold and died in the corner that this would be. The sign reads: Henry George son of Henry and Harriet Brown who died March 20th 1861 aged 10 years 10 months. By the way I live in the USA now and happen to visit regularly and being a tourist have hundreds of pictures!
I think this is almost certainly the house in Church Street, Baldock, at the NE corner of the churchyard of St Mary’s Church. If you compare with Google Streetview the similarity is very striking indeed. The small gate on the left is an entrance to the churchyard. (I sang in the choir at the church in the 50s and 60s.)
