Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was a writer and illustrator, best known for her children’s books
Potter published her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, in 1902 to great acclaim. She went on to write and illustrate 22 more stories for children, featuring characters such as Mrs Tiggywinkle and Jemima Puddle-Duck.
As a child and young woman, she frequently stayed at her grandparents’ house at Camfield Place, which she described as “the place I love best in the world”.
