The birth certificate my wife has states that she was born in Hitchin on 27 dec. 1941 .
The certificate state she was no.344 and she was born in The Hospital Hitchin U D and the registrar was Arthur E.Lloyd
In April we intend visiting Hitchin for the first time and would appreciate any information on the whereabouts of the hospital or any records.
My wife’s mother was evacuated from Bethnal Green.
We would appreciate any information many thanks.

hi, bit late but try googling Stagenhoe. My Mum was born there in March 1942 after her Mum was evacuated from Islington. It’s the Sue Ryder Centre now.
