Herts Hidden Heroines Project
Anna Reynolds, Herts Hidden Heroines Project Manager
Hertfordshire’s Hidden Heroines was a Heritage Lottery Fund project run and managed by Trestle Theatre Company in St Albans from November 2015 – November 2016. The aim was to discover, rediscover and celebrate the inspiring, pioneering and ground-breaking women of Hertfordshire.
For this project, we:
- collected oral histories from a diverse range of women so that their stories could be stored and shared forever. You can hear and read extracts here. You can also hear/read the full interviews by contacting Hertford Museum where they are stored on 01992 582686
- researched the histories of women from Boudica to the present day and presented their biographies
- presented writing from local people about their own Herts Heroines
- made two films which you can watch here
To find out all about the discoveries made on the project, you can read the book specially created to tell the story about Hertfordshire’s Hidden Heroines. This will be available to download from the Trestle website shortly. The audiobook will be available shortly.
